Porsche TPMS: Tire Pressure Monitoring System service advice
In the past, we at Prestige Imports have provided information for Audi owners with regard to their Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). We’ve also offered you service advice and background information as it relates to your TMPS.
One area we have, heretofore, been remiss in dealing with as it relates to this topic, though, is the TPMS for Porsche vehicles. Although many of the general principles and advice found in the above hotlinks also apply to Porsche automobiles, there are some specific warning lights and proprietary interfaces that are unique to the Porsche brand.
With that in mind, we present you with the below video produced by Porsche. In the clip, the voice over clearly articulates common issues as they relate to the TPMS in Porsches. Moreover, the visual component of the video demonstrates, in a straightforward manner, how to engage with and understand the TPMS on your dashboard. The clip is only two minutes in length, so it won’t consume too much of your time. But viewing it (and reading the links above), should give you all the information you need to know when it comes to your tires and their pressure:
Porsche TPMS: key takeaways
To recap, here are the most critical elements from the video that you should remember when it comes to your Porsche’s TPMS:
- correct tire pressure aides in performance, comfort, and safety
- TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System
- tire pressure fluctuates with temperature and will decrease as it becomes colder
- the “Fill Info” display on your dashboard provides accurate and updated tire pressure information
- if the “Fill Indicator” registers 0, then the tire is correctly inflated
- negative numbers indicate underinflation, while postive numbers indicate overinflation
- when inflating tires, use the “Fill Indicator” rather than the TMPS display
- Porsche vehicles have “normal” and “comfort” pressure settings; the latter setting uses lower pressure
- if your TMPS warns you of pressure that’s too low, pull over and check your tires
- if tires are underinflated, the TMPS will warn you via light and sound
